What is KPV?
KPV is a small, naturally occurring peptide that comes from a piece of a hormone your body makes to control skin pigment and inflammation. It works by calming down inflammatory signals inside cells and can be absorbed directly by cells in your gut lining. It’s mainly studied for digestive conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, as well as wound healing and skin issues.
How Does KPV Work?
It gets pulled directly into cells through a transporter used for absorbing nutrients, then works from the inside to quiet down key inflammation-signaling pathways, lowering the production of several inflammatory proteins. It also interacts with pigment-related hormone receptors that contribute to its calming effect on the immune system.
Absorbed directly by cells
Pulled into cells through a nutrient-absorption transporter.
Quiets inflammation
Works from the inside to lower key inflammation-signaling pathways.
Calms the immune system
Interacts with pigment-related hormone receptors for an added calming effect.
What Are the Benefits of KPV?
What research says it may help with, and how it works in the body.
inflammation
May help calm down an immune system that’s overreacting, which is useful in autoimmune conditions.
May ease inflammatory arthritis by lowering the inflammatory signaling molecules involved.
Lowers levels of two inflammation-signaling proteins (TNF-alpha and IL-6) by blocking a key pathway that turns on inflammation.
gut health
Shown to help in research models of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, two inflammatory bowel conditions.
Helps repair the gut lining so it does a better job keeping harmful substances out.
Fights harmful microbes while leaving the gut’s beneficial bacteria mostly untouched.
skin health
Applied to the skin, it cut psoriasis-related markers by 60% and helped strengthen the skin’s protective barrier.
Calms inflamed skin conditions while staying local to the skin, without affecting the rest of the body.
